We at ABM Tiling are delighted to announce the successful completion of a transformative project at the historic Hammersmith Town Hall for Ardmore Construction. We have installed porcelain exterior tiles on the balconies and terraces of the newly built apartments. This project demonstrates our dedication to excellence and highlights our partnership with RYNO, a leading company in pedestal and rail systems for outdoor tiling.
Improving Hammersmith Town Hall, a landmark celebrated for its architectural importance, necessitated a solution that was both durable and visually appealing for its outdoor areas. Our task was to guarantee that these spaces not only appeared stunning but also endured over time and resisted London's changing weather, particularly the wind.
Addressing wind uplift was crucial due to the exposed nature of balconies and terraces. Wind uplift refers to the force exerted by wind on the underside of tiles, which can lead to dislodgement or even complete failure of the tiling system if not properly accounted for. Given the building's height and its location in an urban environment where wind patterns can be unpredictable, a wind uplift system was essential. We installed RYNO's specialised pedestal and rail systems not only for levelling and drainage but also for their proven effectiveness in counteracting these uplift forces. These systems provide additional anchoring and stability, ensuring that the ceramic tiles remain secure against high winds, thus safeguarding the integrity and safety of the installation while extending the lifespan of the tiles.
