Tiger Way

Tiger Way - McLaren Construction

ABM Tiling Limited is proud to announce that we have been awarded the contract for the Tiger Way Project by McLaren Construction. This exciting development, located on Hackney Downs, will provide a primary school education facility for 420 children and 89 high-quality residential apartments split into two stunning tower blocks, one with 14 storeys and the other with 11 storeys.

The project, undertaken by McLaren Construction Ltd’s South division, will involve the demolition of the existing single-storey school, piling, reinforced concrete, sub and superstructures, terracotta cladding, and a high-quality fit-out. The Mayor of Hackney, Philip Glanville, and Deputy Mayor of Hackney, Cllr Anntoinette Bramble, recently marked the start of construction works, alongside the Head Teacher of Nightingale Primary School, Abigail Hopper, and the McLaren Construction team.

Cllr Anntoinette Bramble said: “This is a really important step in our programme to ensure that we have enough local school places for Hackney pupils. It was great to invite pupils who will directly benefit from this school to visit the site – they were really excited to see work getting under way.’’

Additionally, the second project on Nile Street will be undertaken by the Major Projects division of McLaren Construction Ltd. This impressive development, located near the bustling Old Street roundabout, will include a two-storey Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) school, a seven-storey residential block fronting Nile Street, and a 29-storey residential tower, all over a single-storey shared basement. The works include demolition and enabling works, groundworks, reinforced concrete superstructure, and post-tensioned floor slabs. With precast concrete cladding to the low-level blocks and unitised curtain walling to the tower, the apartments will have high-spec internal finish, together with extensive external works to both the school and residential areas.

Kevin Taylor, Chairman of McLaren Construction Group, commented: ‘’It is a privilege to be engaged on these projects with London Borough of Hackney. It is a true testament of the valued working relationship developed between McLaren and Hackney over the past 8 years of delivering high quality educational facilities through the successful BSF programme.’’

Both projects started on site in January 2017 and are looking to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, demonstrating the commitment to sustainability. The schools are expected to be ready for occupation as early as December 2018, with the remaining residential units phased up to November 2019.

ABM Tiling Limited is excited to be a part of these two impressive developments, working alongside McLaren Construction and the London Borough of Hackney to deliver outstanding educational facilities and beautiful residential spaces for the community.
